Yes Man (2008)

It was a long wait, but I finally saw it and absolutely loved the hell out of it. Jim Carrey back to being hilarious again. I laughed a lot, but I especially enjoyed that it wasn't all comedy. There's a romantic story going on here, too, and it was so extremely adorable, it had me kinda crying a bit.

I loved it, and can't wait to watch it again.

Quarantine (2008)

Woah, this was not supposed to be so good. I was horrified when I heard they were Americanising REC, from Spain, which was one of the best and scareist zombie-freak-out films I have ever seen. I expected the whole thing to be watered down and dull. I didn't expect to be scared. I expected a collossal American fuck up of The Ring proportions.

I was wrong.

You know, I felt something very early on in this movie and I think that has to do with the chick that's in it. She was just so cool, and bubbly, and seemed very realistic in the fake-doco style here -- something difficult to pull off, I reckon. So she kept me going, to the point that at the end I started to get slightly distressed -- her terror was so real. She looks fucking petrified. I wonder if the filmmakers didn't really freak her out and film it.

So, that was good. And the effects were okay, too. I didn't find it as slick and tight as REC, but it was decent enough. And the end was scary as it should have been. I jumped. Good movie.

My Bloody Valentine 3D

Why? I only wanted to watch this because it was in 3D. I didn't watch it in 3D. I have no explanation for why I did that to myself. It was shit.

His Name Was Jason

Cool documentary on the Friday the 13th movies, with some really surprising talking heads from actors in movies past. I liked it, even the cheesy framing with Tom Savini being his odd self. There's some great insights here into the Jason mythos, and the making of each of the films in teh series from the very people who made them. I really enjoyed it. It's a great film for fans of the movies (or the forst two movies, like me).

Groundhog Day

"Bliizard, what blizzard? It's just a couple of flakes."

In my Top 5 of all time. I fucking love it. Over and over again.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Oh my god, how excited was I when this came into the shop? Steve was all, this is lame. And I was all, no, it's totally not lame in that it IS lame, but it's lameness is what makes it so great.

It's a parody, and it's completely mental, but it's too fucking funny. I am deliriously happy that Steve appreicated the gag.

The cool thing about this DVD, too, is it is slammed with features. You get to hear from everyone about the making of the film, and you see deleted scenes and backstage stuff. I was excited that other people loved the movie as much as me.

"It was a space ship. And there was these things, these killer clowns, and they shot popcorn at us! We barely got away!"

Man.
